about me
These stories are about a brave mouse navigating the American Revolution to bring history alive for young readers. My hope is that they spark curiosity through engaging tales that children will connect to and will remember long after reading.

I thought that if I wrote a book, it would be a math textbook.
I was a math teacher, I shared all things numerical with students and anyone who would listen. I loved making puzzles, writing tests and making resources that went beyond the rote memorization of formulas and algorithms. When I left the classroom there were fewer and fewer people who wanted to know about math. Maybe the ones in my classes really didn't want to know but only listened so they would get a good grade ... "is this going to be on the test?" Eventually the students graduated and I retired.
History has always been interesting and as the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence approached, I thought it needed a story. And Pipkin was born!
I grew up in Maryland, married my middle school sweetheart and raised two daughters. As time passed, I moved to Delaware and eventually to Richmond, Virginia where history abounds! I enjoy spending time with my husband who is my biggest encouragement and our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I won't mention how many because they are increasing exponentially!
Would you like a lesson on exponential growth?
(I still sell those math resources on teacherspayteachers.com)
